Rusnak Charged In Provincial Court For Alleged Breach Of ASC Order

Dec 15, 2006

Orest Rusnak has been charged in Edmonton Provincial Court with allegedly breaching an Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) order.  In 2000, the ASC ordered Rusnak to cease trading in securities, resign as director or officer of any public company and not become or act as an officer or director of a public company for 20 years.  It is alleged that Rusnak breached this order by acting as a director or officer of twenty different Alberta corporations, including Academy Financial Inc. and Legal Structures Inc.

The first court appearance has been set for January 17, 2007.

The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and to protect investors.  As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
