What is a Whistleblower?
In general, the following criteria will help you determine if you qualify as a whistleblower.
You may qualify as a whistleblower if you are:
- A full-time or part-time employee, or a director of a person or company;
- An independent contractor of a person or company;
- An employee or director of an independent contractor of a person or company; or
- An employee or director of an affiliate of a person or company.
AND
You have information about a contravention of Alberta securities laws by that person or company.
AND
You seek to voluntarily disclose this information to ASC staff.
AND
The information you provide is not misleading or untrue.
Final determination of whether you are a whistleblower will be based on the Securities Act (Alberta) and rests with the Office of the Whistleblower.
